The Path

Commissioned by Seattle Opera in collaboration with the US Army Field Band

The Path was commissioned by Seattle Opera for their partnership with Path with Art, an organization whose mission is to, “foster the restoration of individuals, groups, and society from the effects of trauma, through arts engagement and community building.” Written for Path with Art’s Veterans Choir, the libretto was written by Jerre Dye after conducting a series of interviews with members of the group. Jerre describes the overarching theme as, ‘the absolute challenge service members have with readjusting to civilian life, and the journey one takes to discover the next version of themselves.”
